8 Ways to Claim Australian Lottery Winning Prizes

Having a win of any amount is an exciting event, and for some lucky customers, it can be life-changing. Because prize values can range from a few dollars to a few million dollars, there are a number of ways for you to claim your lottery or Instant Scratch-Its prizes.
1. Get prize money directly into your online account
If you win a prize from a purchase made using your online lottery account you will get the prize money directly into the same account, usually the next day. You will also be notified by email about your entry winning a prize.
For Division 1, Set for Life 1st Prize and Lucky Lotteries Jackpot or 1st Prizes the prize money will be deposited directly into your online lottery account after a two-week provisional period has elapsed. Also you will get a personal call for your being a winner.
2. Get Prize money with Tatts card
To make sure you always receive your lottery prizes if you forget to check your tickets, register your lottery entries to a Tatts Card when playing in-store. You can complete an application form in-store or create an account online.
Tatts Card members will get automatic payment options when winning a prize. You can get the prize by cheque which is sent automatically 4 weeks after the last draw on your ticket. Note that a handling fee of up to $2.20 can apply per cheque.
Also the prize money can be paid into a nominated bank account which is paid automatically 4 weeks after the last draw on your ticket. Or get into a linked online lottery account either immediately after the last draw or 4 weeks after the last draw on your ticket.
3. Claim prize in lottery store and fill a claim form
If you bought your winning ticket at a lottery retail store you can claim your wins less than $1500 at any retail outlet. Prizes $1500 and over can be claimed by post with a Prize Claim Form. Division 1, Set for Life 1st Prize and Lucky Lotteries Jackpot or 1st Prize can be claimed by post with a Prize Claim Form. These prizes are subject to a two-week provisional period before your payment can be made.
4. Claiming prizes in-person at lottery retailer
Depending upon the value of the prize, claims can be made in person at your nearest retail outlet. To collect your prize in person you will need the original lottery or Instant Scratch-Its ticket and signature identification such as a Drivers Licence or Passport.
If claiming all or part of a prize from a winning lottery ticket which is registered to a Tatts Card on someone else’s behalf, you will also need a signed letter of authorisation and signature identification for the claimant and the registered player(s)
5. Claiming lottery prizes by post
To claim a lottery prize by post, download and complete Tatts Prize Claim Form or pick one up at your local retail outlet. Send the winning ticket(s) along with your completed Prize Claim Form via post to Administration Locked Bag 888, Melbourne VIC 3004. Remember to keep copies of both your Prize Claim Form and original ticket(s) for your own records. Your prize payment should be processed and paid within 10 working days of receipt of your Prize Claim Form by Tatts.
6. Claiming Instant Scratch-Its prizes by post
To claim an Instant Scratch-Its prize by post, download and complete Golden Casket Prize Claim Form or pick one up at your local retail outlet. Remember to write your name, address and signature on the back of the ticket. Send the winning ticket(s) along with your completed Prize Claim Form via post to: Administration Locked Bag 7 COORPAROO DC QLD 4151. Again remember to keep copies of both your Prize Claim Form and original ticket(s) for your own records. Your prize payment should be processed and paid within 10 working days of receipt of your Prize
7. Claiming prizes interstate
Even though lottery games and Instant Scratch-Its can be purchased in multiple states within Australia, prizes can only be claimed within the State in which the entry was originally purchased. Instant Scratch-Its tickets conducted by Golden Casket can be claimed in Queensland, Tasmania or the Northern Territory.
8. Claiming on someone’s behalf
If claiming a prize from a winning lottery ticket which is registered to a players Tatts card on behalf of the registered customer, you will need a Prize Claim Form signed and completed by the registered card holder with the original ticket, signed letter of authorisation with the name of the person authorised to pick up the prize, stating the ticket number, registered card holders contact phone number and the prize amount that you are collecting.
The registered card holder should sign the authorisation and provide signature identification so the request can be verified. The person authorised to pick up the prize should bring identification for verification and audit purposes. This prize will be paid as per the Prize Claim form by either Cheque or Direct Deposit.
